Sew a block at home or stitch with us in the shop. There’s a place for you in our community quilt!

A little fabric, a few stitches, and a community full of generous hearts. What a lovely way to celebrate 19 years of Quilted Joy!

We’re making a community quilt for Project Linus, and we’d love for your stitches to be part of it. Visit our Louisville shop to stitch a block while taking a sewing machine for a test drive, or join us from home by making and mailing a block.

Whether you’re just around the corner or a few states away, there’s a place for you in this quilt!

What Is Project Linus?

Project Linus is a nonprofit organization that gives new, handmade blankets and quilts to children from infancy through age 18 who are facing serious illness, trauma, or other difficult circumstances. These handmade gifts offer warmth, comfort, and something special to call their own.

Through local chapters, blankets reach children in hospitals, shelters, social service agencies, and other places where a little extra comfort is needed.

It’s a meaningful reminder that someone cares, and that’s something our quilting community knows how to share.

Join Us in the Shop: Take a Test Drive, Stitch a Block

Curious about trying a different sewing machine? Here’s a chance to take one for a spin while helping us make something meaningful!

Stop by Quilted Joy and ask a Quilt Fairy about our Project Linus test drive. You’ll try one of our sewing machines while stitching a block for our community quilt.

Explore a machine, ask questions, and enjoy a little sewing time with the Quilt Fairies. Best of all, the stitches you make will become part of a quilt made with kindness.

A little extra sweetness! Everyone who takes an in-store test drive is entered into our monthly drawing for a $50 Quilted Joy gift certificate!

Join Us from Home: Make and Mail a Block

Our faraway quilting friends are part of the Quilted Joy family, too! You don’t have to visit the shop to help us create this quilt.

We’ve created a block pattern for you to use at home. Here’s how to add your stitches to the kindness:

1. Sign Up for the Block Pattern

Ready to stitch a little kindness from home? Enter your email address in the form below to receive our Project Linus block pattern. Whether you’re sewing around the corner or a few states away, we’d love for your block to be part of our community quilt! 💕

2. Sew Your Block

Once you have your pattern, follow its fabric requirements, cutting instructions, and piecing directions so your block is ready to join its quilting neighbors.

Please use our provided pattern rather than substituting a different block design.

You’re contributing a block, not making an entire finished quilt. Together, those individual blocks will help us create something special!

3. Mail Your Block to Quilted Joy

Send your finished block to:

Quilted Joy
Attn: Project Linus Blocks
12316 Shelbyville Rd.
Louisville, KY 40243

Mail your block by November 30, 2026. This is the date to put your block in the mail, rather than a deadline for it to arrive at the shop.

A Few Helpful Reminders Before You Sew

Because these quilts are going to children, please use new, unused, washable fabric. Keep your block free from smoke, pet hair, and strong fragrances, and avoid adding buttons or other small embellishments that could come loose.

Follow the block pattern carefully, including any fabric, sizing, and pressing directions. A little attention to those details will help everyone’s blocks fit together.

Before packing your block, give it one last look for pins and loose threads. A clean, neatly pressed block will be ready to join its new quilting neighbors!

Your Project Linus Questions, Answered

How do I get the block pattern?
Enter your email address in the sign-up form above to receive our Project Linus block pattern. Then follow the pattern’s instructions to make your block for our community quilt!

Do I need to make an entire quilt?
No! For our community quilt, you are contributing a block made with our provided pattern. Your block will join blocks made by other quilting friends.

Can I participate without visiting the shop?
Absolutely! Sign up for the block pattern, sew your block at home, and mail it to Quilted Joy. Our faraway quilting friends are welcome to join in.

Can I use a different block pattern?
Please use the pattern provided for this community quilt and follow its fabric and sizing directions. That will help all of the donated blocks work together.

How do I enter the monthly gift certificate drawing?
Take an in-store sewing machine test drive at Quilted Joy! Everyone who takes a test drive is entered into our monthly drawing for a $50 Quilted Joy gift certificate. Mailing a block is a separate way to participate in the community quilt.

Every Block Is a Little Act of Kindness

One of the sweetest things about quilting is how much care can be stitched into something we give away. This quilt will bring together blocks from different hands, different sewing rooms, and friends near and far, all with the same thoughtful purpose.

Thank you for helping us celebrate 19 years by sharing a little comfort with someone who needs it. We’re sew thankful for this community and can’t wait to see your blocks! 💕
